As you may know from a previous post, I have recently purchased a plancha/griddle. Read more about that by clicking here. So far I’ve only managed to use the plancha once to cook burgers. That cook was mostly successful but everything ended up a little crisp. Having learnt from the mistakes of that cook I decided to cook a full English breakfast on the plancha.
Cooking a full English breakfast on the BBQ was a little scary. A full breakfast has many more components and I didn’t want to leave anything out. Baked beans, toast, black pudding, bacon, sausage and mushrooms. One of the main things I was nervous about was the egg. It turns out I was right to be nervous. The BBQ wasn’t quite level and the first egg I cracked slipped straight into the coals. The next two managed to stay on the plancha and ended up being perfect. Nice runny yolk. Even the toast came out brilliantly cooked on the grill next to the plancha. In fact there wasn’t one element of the breakfast that didn’t come out exactly as I would have liked it. The best part? Only two plates, cutlery, a spatula, one saucepan and a pair of tongs to wash up. Ordinarily the kitchen ends up covered in pans so this was perfect. Definitely going to be cooking breakfasts on the BBQ more often. Very happy with the plancha and I would definitely recommend that you invest in one. Mine only ended up costing £10!
