Banana ‘Split’

This was a simple desert I knocked up after cooking dirty steaks on the Thuros.  I don’t currently own the lid and so I have no way to save the coals for a later cook.  Normally the coals go to waste but not this time!  This time I make my version of a super easy banana split.

This was really not complicated.  I decided to make the most of the dying coals only after eating my dirty steak and lobster tail.  There wasn’t much time before the coals were gone and wasted.  So I quickly peeled two bananas and placed them into a foil pouch.  With the bananas I added three Lindt chocolate balls, a sprinkle of demerera sugar and a dusting of cinnamon.  That’s it.  I sealed the parcel the best I could and nestled it in the hot coals for around 5 minutes.  I could have left them a little longer if I wanted softer bananas.

It was fantastic!  So simple but so delicious.  Why I haven’t thought to do something like this before I do not know.  The main lesson learnt was to never waste hot coals.  Do you cook desert of the BBQ?  If not have a go and let me know how it goes.
