BBQ Burger Day

You’ve got to love it when the sun comes out and you can finally bbq without your raincoat on.  Finally, summer is here and for some of you, this is probably the only time of the year that you will get your BBQ out of the shed.  Better make the most of it!

For this meal I cooked turkey burgers, beef burgers, bacon wrapped onion rings, halloumi with onions and grilled lettuce.  I’m not going to make this a recipe post but I will give you a couple of tips.

Keep your burgers simple.  Use fattier meat when possible.  I usually grate an onion into my mince before shaping into burgers.  To me, it keeps them incredibly juicy.  Everyone has their own way of doing that.  Generally speaking, I would let the flavour of the meat do it’s thing and only season lightly.

Take your bbq up a couple of notches with some BBQ rubs.  There are loads available if you know where to look.  A few places I’ve used include Angus and Oink, BBQ Gourmet and Quiet Waters.  I would say look around because there are loads available  I used Big Poppa Smokers ‘Money Rub’ for the bacon wrapped onion rings.  Seriously good!
