How amazing does this look? Pretty good right? Perhaps unsurprisingly, the prospect of a new restaurant by the same team as The Potted Pig, has created a buzz on social media and I thought I’d share what information I have with you.
The owners, Cerys Furlong, husband Tom, Friend Gwyn (Head Chefs) and business partner Jahan first opened The Potted Pig in 2011. Following to the well-deserved success of The Potted Pig, the team has launched a new culinary experience, Porro.
Tom and Gwyn first met whilst cooking Italian food in Cafe Gibo, Pontcanna, more than 10 years ago. The Potted Pig has won multiple awards serving modern British food with French and New-York grill influences. Porro will be a new direction for the team, but also a return to a cuisine the chefs love, serving fantastic Italian-inspired food from a small 60-seat restaurant in the centre of Llandaff, I’m excited!
Cerys had this to say:
“We really want Porro to be part of the Llandaff community. We will be open 7 days a week and look forward to welcoming a range of diners from those looking for a working lunch, to parents on the school run, as well as couples and groups looking for an evening out with dinner and a variety of drinks.”
“Menus will be kept seasonal, using only the finest locally sourced produce, with some ingredients exclusively sourced from Italy. While the wine and drinks menu to food match will carry a range of independently sourced wines, as well as an array of bottled lagers, ales and ciders to be reviewed on a regular basis.”

The rustic interior of the new restaurant looks fantastic. Apparently described as ‘mattoni e malta’ in Italian – bricks and mortar. The stripped back walls, oak parquet flooring, mood lighting and atmospheric surroundings create an excellent dining experience. If you would prefer, you can book out a private dining room available for parties of up to twenty people. With its own mini bar and equally impressive decor, it is a great space for private parties business functions and special events.
